Squatch Travel Privacy Policy

What we collect

Nothing. Squatch Travel has no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no trackers, and no third-party SDKs. Once your destination packs are on your phone, every feature works in airplane mode.

Destination pack downloads

When you pick a destination, the app fetches that country's pack (phrasebook, emergency numbers, safety briefing, and a current exchange rate) from our server. The request contains a two-letter country code and nothing else — no account, no device identifier, and nothing about you or your trip. Content flows to your phone, never the other way, and the pack is cached on your device so it keeps working offline.

Free-form translation

The Translator uses Apple's on-device translation. Language models are downloaded and managed by iOS itself, and everything you type is translated on your phone — it is never sent to us or anyone else.

Your trips and itinerary

Trip plans, destinations, reservations, confirmation numbers, and luggage records (including airline bag-tag numbers and tracker-tag notes) are stored only on your device. They are never transmitted anywhere and are removed if you delete the app.

Your health card

Allergies, medications, blood type, and emergency contacts you enter are stored encrypted on your device. They are never sent to us or anyone else, are never included in share cards, and translations are produced on-device from dictionaries bundled with the app. The health card is an aid, not medical advice.

Your documents

Backup photos of your passport or ID in the document vault are protected by Face ID / your passcode and stored with full file protection on your device only.

Camera, photos, NFC, and speech

The camera is used only to photograph your bags and documents and to scan bag-tag barcodes — all processed on-device. Apple's photo picker means the app can only access photos you explicitly choose. NFC is used only to read a luggage tracker tag when you tap one. Spoken phrases use Apple's on-device speech synthesis. None of this leaves your phone.

Share cards

Trip share cards are rendered on your device and leave it only when you tap Share and pick a destination yourself. Miles are estimated from destination geography — the app never tracks your location.

Purchases

Trip unlocks ($4.99 per trip or the yearly unlimited plan) are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. Apple provides us with anonymous, aggregate sales reports only. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Children

Squatch Travel does not collect data from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy ever changes — for example, if we add optional iCloud sync (Apple's private database, which we still could not read) — we'll update this page and the effective date above before the change ships.
